Respect Life Ministry

The Respect Life group at St. Joseph's Catholic Church is on mission to foster a culture of life within the parish and local community. We uphold the belief that every human being is created in the unique image and likeness of God, and therefore should be valued and protected from conception to natural death. As stewards of God's gift of life, we provide the members of St. Joseph's parish information and opportunities to defend the rights of those who are vulnerable: the unborn, those with disabilities, mentally or physically ill or dying, through prayer and advocacy.

HELP THE CAUSE FOR LIFE!

OUR LADY OF GUADALUPE

If you are involved in the pro-life movement for any length of time, you will encounter the image of Our Lady of Guadalupe. This image has many connections with the pro-life cause. - Fr. Frank A. Pavone

Pray to Our Lady of Guadalupe (Pope John Paul II, January 25, 1979): Virgin most wise, you chose a humble farmer to announce your motherly concern to the people of Mexico. Although Juan Diego felt unequal to the mission you gave him, you encouraged him to persevere. Faced with powerful anti-life forces today, we also feel unequal to the mission God has given us of building a culture of life and a civilization of love. Help us to persevere always in this great campaign for life, assured of your help and prayers. Amen

SPIRITUAL ADOPTION OF AN UNBORN CHILD

To counter the propaganda for abortion, Msgr Fulton J. Sheen recommended the spiritual adoption of unborn babies. This was to be done by praying that these little ones be spared abortion and continue to live after birth.  During your earthly life, this child which you have adopted will be known only to God, but in the hereafter, you will enjoy each other’s company for all eternity.

The following prayer, said every day for one whole year, was recommended:

Jesus, Mary, Joseph, I love you very much; I beg you to spare the life of the unborn child that I have spiritually adopted, and which is in danger of being aborted. Amen.
