WHAT IS A JUBILEE YEAR?

A Jubilee is a special year of prayer which ordinarily takes place every twenty-five years. Jubilees are an ancient Jewish practice and are times for forgiveness, reconciliation, and pilgrimage. The theme of Jubilee 2025 is Pilgrims of Hope, and the faithful are encouraged to participate, either by going on pilgrimage to Rome or in our local archdiocese. Those interested in obtaining the Jubilee Year Indulgence can learn more below.

Schedule of Events

Begin the day on Thursday, August 7 with 9:00am Mass at St. Joseph or Our Lady of Sorrows and then meet us at the Cathedral (804 9th Ave., Seattle, WA 98104) at 11:00am for a guided tour! Following the tour, we will complete a pilgrimage of prayer for the Jubilee. All attendees are invited to join us afterwards for a brown bag lunch at the Pastoral Outreach Center across the street from the Cathedral.

Jubilee Year Indulgence

The faithful can obtain the Jubilee indulgence if, having celebrated the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist, they devoutly attend this pilgrimage and there, for a suitable period of time, engage in Eucharistic adoration and meditation, concluding with the Our Father, the Profession of Faith in any legitimate form, and invocations to Mary, the Mother of God.
